Dear ESHA Friends,
As you move into your final weeks of the school year, my hopes are that you finish as well as you have planned and that you plan well for what comes after the finish. It is important to plot out your vacation strategy as if it were as crucial to your success as the next board meeting, capital campaign, or curriculum change. That's because it is! So please pay attention to the free time approaching so that you'll be refreshed for all of the up and down times ahead.
(And speaking of finishing, congratulations and thanks to long-time supportive member James Hamner, who retires from St. Martin's Episcopal School (GA) in June.)
I encourage you to look at the Heads Up section below for an example of what one of our mentoring/connecting flights recently discussed in their regular conference call. We have recently realigned some of the flights, and I ask that if you would like to be in a group but have not been contacted by me or a flight leader, PLEASE CONTACT ME! The ESHA connecting flights have proven to be a meaningful bit of professional development for many of you, so please join in if you haven't yet done so.
From ESHA President Muddy Waters
Dear ESHA Colleagues,
People always ask me as we get to May if the school year is winding DOWN, and I assure them that it is winding UP. It feels like everything accelerates, and the energy levels come up as the finish line comes into sight. I hope that everything is going well for you as we head to the end of the academic year. I know I have used the information gleaned from our retreat at Woodstock as well as ideas from our mentoring flight to get me through the year, and I hope you have had the same experience. Here's to a successful finish to your school year.
In a recent mentoring/connecting flight conference call, leader Mark Silver of Hillbrook School (CA), framed the discussion around millennials. Take a look at the video and the article he offered as background for the chat. This is just one example of the interesting and germane topics that our flight leaders are floating for their groups. If you're not in a group yet, contact Chris to sign up.
