About the Opportunity

The Elementary School Heads Association (ESHA) is seeking a part-time Executive Director who will help us preserve our rich past while moving ESHA toward a future filled with possibility. ESHA is at an inflection point after five decades of service to school heads nationwide. We are using our 50th Anniversary as an opportunity to celebrate, reflect on, and re-imagine who we are as an organization.

 

This is the ideal position for someone with experience in independent schools who is looking for a part-time role or who sees this position as an extension to their primary job.

Responsibilities

  • Champion PK- 8 independent education with a commitment to engaging school leaders in that market.
  • Manage and implement the strategic direction and priorities as set by the board.
  • Modernize digital engagement of members through ESHA’s web presence, newsletter and ongoing digital enhancements.
  • Drive new member recruitment through an elevated compelling retreat, a purposeful resource bank, sponsored webinars, and a network of monthly remote connections.
  • Support collaborative working relationships with ESHA members and external sponsors with resources to increase capacity and sustainability for independent schools.
  • Create a mentor program for new heads.
  • Elevate the annual retreat to be a value-add for restoration, collegiality and learning.
  • Engage and work with a collaborative board using their capabilities as a force-multiplier for ESHA.
  • Gain new clarity in the value of ESHA and tell our story with excellence in messaging will capture new members while enhancing services and support for current members.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the independent school market and understanding of trends in K-8 education today and in the future.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as an advocate and spokesperson.
  • Skills to oversee digital engagement of members through ESHA’s web presence, newsletter and ongoing digital enhancements.
  • Able and willing to facilitate virtual and in-person workshops with member schools.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging and working in collaboration with a strategic and collaborative board.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.

Hours & Compensation

  • The ideal candidate will be available to start on or soon after July 1, 2023.
  • The part-time position requires approximately 10 hours per week with work fluctuating between quiet periods (winter and summer) and busier times (spring membership drive and leading up to the Annual Conference in October).
  • Compensation is targeted at $30,000 with a potential bonus if the Executive Director generates significant increases to membership before June 30, 2024.
